Reclaim Renew Renest

Everything Renesting is able to do for the Shreveport-Bossier community is also because of the Shreveport-Bossier community. It takes a village to make everything we do possible.

Today we want to say “THANK YOU!” to a member of that village, Rickey Gibbs.

Rickey came to Renesting in the Spring of 2017. Pat Thatcher, a local businesswoman and friend of the Nest, facilitated a large donation from a local furniture warehouse that was closing. We were given the first pick of all the items in the warehouse before Pat sold them through her estate sale business. At the time, we had no way of getting a donation of that size to our warehouse. Pat knew of someone and passed along his information. That person was Rickey Gibbs of Reginald’s Moving & Delivery.

Noel was so impressed with Rickey that she asked him to start making our monthly deliveries to clients. Since then he is always on the lookout for us and will sometimes call to let us know he’s picked up furniture to bring to the warehouse. He has become an integral part of the Renesting family.

Before suspending our delivery service, Rickey delivered the furniture to the clients we served on second Saturdays. Before their service, Noel reassures every client that while she may not be there when their furniture is delivered, Rickey will be and he is a great man who will respect their home and their new belongings.

When Renesting has been blessed with large donations- like a cafeteria’s worth of tables and chairs, Rickey and his team helped get that donation to the Nest. Many a staff meeting has included the phrase, “I’ll check with Rickey.” Especially when we were in between methods of transport for our weekly donation pick up.

We are so grateful for everything Rickey has done for us the past three years and we look forward to continuing to work with him.
