Reclaim Renew Renest

New year…not a new us. Same mission, same dedication.

The end of 2020 was bittersweet. We were glad to see a difficult year come to a close, but it meant saying goodbye to six board members. It also meant a season of forced ingenuity would be slowing down- we still aren’t sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. Even as people come and go from the board, the Nest, or the community, our mission continues. 2021 will be no different, we will focus on our mission.

In case you’ve forgotten or you’re new here, our mission is:

“to gather and distribute gently used furniture and household items to those in need in Caddo & Bossier Parishes.”

Looking forward, we have 4 new board members, 5 possible grantors, and a group of volunteers and donors that are ready to serve.

We want to give a warm welcome to those four new board members:

Brad Lipps

Andy Mapp

Shilpan Patel

J.J. Stallcup

New faces mean new brains that will bring new ideas, new insights, and new ways to reach our goals and spread our mission.

Let’s look back, one last time, and see what our mission-focused board, donors, and volunteers were able to accomplish in 2020:

new numbers for 2020

Do you want to be a part of those thousands of volunteer hours? Those hundreds of cozy blankets or homey place settings?

Here’s how to get involved in 2021:

Renesting is powered by volunteers like you! As a volunteer, you’ll clean, sort, pack, move, repurpose, and even help distribute furniture and household items. You might also help pick up donated furniture items from our donors’ homes! If you’re interested in volunteering, just give us a call or email us and we’ll get you on the schedule.

Have furniture or household items you no longer need? Our clients can use them! We are open for donation drop-offs every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm. We are also open the second Saturday of every month from 8 am to 11 am.

Not all the details are ready yet, but you can mark your calendars for Give for Good (happening on a device near you on May 4th!), Sharing of the Season (coming November 2021), re2021 (stay tuned this Fall!), and our monthly Pop Up Auctions (the first Wednesday of every month)!! Don’t forget to share!

We’re looking forward to this new year and all the opportunities it will bring!
